Agent Card Registry

A neutral reference namespace for AI agent identity, discovery, and registry concepts.

Overview

AgentCardRegistry is a neutral, non-commercial reference namespace intended to support emerging concepts around AI agent identity, agent capability description, and agent discovery mechanisms.

As AI systems evolve toward agent-based architectures, consistent approaches to describing, discovering, and governing agents become increasingly important.

This registry concept exists to provide a shared reference point for discussions, experimentation, and alignment.

What is an Agent Card?

An Agent Card refers to a structured description of an AI agent, typically including:

  • Identity and basic metadata
  • Declared capabilities and functions
  • Interfaces and endpoints
  • Operational constraints and policies
  • Optional trust or verification signals

Agent Cards are designed to enable interoperability, discovery, and governance across diverse agent ecosystems.

Why a Registry?

As the number of AI agents grows, decentralized ecosystems require mechanisms to:

  • Discover agents by capability or role
  • Reference agent descriptions consistently
  • Support governance, compliance, and trust models
  • Enable interoperability across platforms

A registry serves as a logical coordination layer, not as a centralized authority, but as a shared reference structure that supports alignment.

Stewardship Principles

AgentCardRegistry operates under the following principles:

  • Neutrality – No commercial preference or platform bias
  • Transparency – Clear scope, intent, and limitations
  • Replaceability – No dependency on a single implementation
  • Alignment-first – Designed to complement evolving standards, not compete with them

This namespace is maintained to support open discussion and responsible evolution of agent-based systems.

Scope and Intent

AgentCardRegistry does not claim ownership of any standard, protocol, or implementation.

Its purpose is to:

  • Provide a neutral reference term
  • Support conceptual clarity
  • Enable alignment conversations across technical, enterprise, and governance communities
